SwapSmart is committed to ensuring our platform is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance across all pages and features, and we continuously review and improve our accessibility as the platform evolves.
Accessibility Features
Keyboard Navigation
Every interactive element on the platform is reachable and operable using a keyboard alone, with a clear and visible focus indicator at all times.
Screen Reader Compatible
We use semantic HTML5 and ARIA landmarks to ensure screen readers can accurately convey the structure and purpose of every page.
Colour & Contrast
All text meets WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios. We do not use colour alone to convey meaning — icons and labels always accompany colour indicators.
Scalable Text
The platform reflows correctly when text is scaled up to 200% without horizontal scrolling or loss of content in most modern browsers.
Audio & Media
Any media on the platform includes captions or text alternatives. No content auto-plays audio without user consent.
Mobile Accessibility
Touch targets meet minimum size requirements and the platform is fully operable on iOS and Android using built-in accessibility features.
Technical Standards
SwapSmart is built using:
- Semantic HTML5 elements for clear document structure
- ARIA roles and labels where native HTML is insufficient
- Focus management for modal dialogs and dynamic content updates
- Descriptive alt text on all meaningful images
- Sufficient colour contrast across all text and UI elements
- Form inputs with associated visible labels and error messages
Known Limitations
We are aware of the following areas that are still being improved:
- Some complex data tables may not be fully navigable with all screen readers
- Older uploaded images may lack descriptive alt text
We are actively working to resolve these issues in upcoming releases.
